All PUL videos is intended for live or VOD internet distribution. Terrestrial and cable broadcast standards are not applicable to these video products.
In brief, our target video is:
1920x1080 resolution
30 or 60 frames per second
progressive frames
20Mbps or better bitrate
H.264 or similar common format
Any common video file format is acceptable.
Specifically any video file format recognized by Adobe Premiere is preferred for our workflow. Other formats may be converted to use in our packaging and distribution.
16:9 video is required (HD/widescreen and above).
Minimum 1280x720 (HD) and up to 3840x2160 (4K).
Our standard delivery to live stream and VOD is 1920x1080.
Cinema widescreen recordings may be cropped to conform.
4:3 (SD) aspect ratio and vertical video are not acceptable.
Please only record in progress (p) frames.
Interlaced (i) formats diminish the quality of final deliverables.
Minimum framerate: 30p
Preferred framerate: 60p
24p is not an adequate framerate for broadcasting
Framerates above 60 are acceptable but will be converted for broadcast. High framerates (60+) result in smoother slow motion instant-replays.
Video recording bitrate depends largely on the equipment used to record the gameplay. Generally any local recording hardware (camera, deck) provides an adequate bitrate.
For live and VOD delivery our target bitrate is 16Mbps for 1920x1080. Any recording with a bitrate greater than 16Mbps is acceptable.
Uncompressed/RAW recordings are not desirable as the file size greatly reduces portability for internet transfer.
High bitrate formats such as ProRes are acceptable but impact portability & delivery.
